Minna R. Selub, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Selub graduated from prestigious Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and the top ranking Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. After graduating with honors in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Selub entered a four-year residency training program in ob-gyn at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Following her final year at Beth Israel as Chief Resident, Dr. Selub moved to Durham, North Carolina to complete a three-year fellowship training program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Duke University Medical Center. At Duke, Dr. Selub performed award-winning research on the mechanism of sperm-egg interaction at the time of fertilization. Before establishing F.I.R.S.T. in 1998, Dr. Selub was Assistant Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology where she served as Director of the Program for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (A.R.T). While at the University of Miami, Dr. Selub initiated the first donor egg program in South Florida. At present, F.I.R.S.T. continues to be one of the largest-volume donor egg programs in South Florida. Currently, Dr. Selub is affiliated with the Memorial Hospital West, Memorial Hospital Miramar, and the Surgery Center of Weston, L.L.C. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and speaks some French, German, and Hebrew. Dr. Selub is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), and the Florida Obstetric and Gynecologic Society. She is married to Steven E. Selub, M.D., a specialist in digestive diseases. They have four children.

Kimball O. Pomeroy, Ph.D., HCLD
Laboratory Director in Weston, FL
FIRST's andrology and embryology laboratories are directed by Dr. Kimball O. Pomeroy, one of the most experienced and respected embryologists in the world. He is an expert on all currently available assisted reproduction techniques, such as Oocyte Freezing, In Vitro Fertilization, ICSI, Blastocyst culture, Blastocyst biopsy, and Pre-implantation Genetic Testing of embryos. Dr. Pomeroy is also the scientific director for The World Egg Bank, as well as a laboratory director in China. He has lectured at many scientific meetings and post-graduate courses and has coauthored numerous papers, mostly dealing with the detection of toxins and cryopreservation.
Kimball O. Pomeroy graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1981, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences. He later earned a Ph.D. in Animal Physiology at Colorado State University, and then a post-doc at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. At the Salk Institute, Dr. Pomeroy was a molecular biologist and worked with Dr. Glen Evans on the Human Genome Project (chromosome 11) and did work in the production of transgenic animals.
He was trained as a human embryologist in Bristol, England and worked as a consultant for several projects in Mexico, Nepal, China, Bolivia, and the Bahamas. He has served as a member of the SART Executive Board, Chair of Reproductive Laboratory Technician's Group, Chair of the College of Reproductive Biology, and is a founding member of both the Regulatory Task Force and the Southwest Embryologist Summit. Recently, Dr. Pomery has coauthored several papers on the risks of cross-contamination of microbes during storage of tissue in liquid nitrogen, the usefulness of embryo morphology in predicting pregnancy, and the source of microbial contamination during embryo culture.

Nirvika Singh, MS Reproductive Clinical Sciences, MBBS, MS, ELS/ALS

Dr. Nirvika Singh is a board certified Embryologist/Andrologist. She completed her training in medicine in India, where she earned her MBBS degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). While studying clinical medicine, Dr. Singh gained much hands on experience in embryology, and enjoyed this aspect of medicine so much that she decided to pursue it as a career.
In India, Dr. Singh worked collaboratively with embryologists involved in setting up and running IVF laboratories for her mother, a women's health care physician specializing in treating infertility patients. In May 2019, Dr. Singh earned a master’s degree in Reproductive Clinical Science from Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Singh has also been associated with Cleveland Clinic-Center for Reproductive Medicine, where she has done extensive research on the oxidative stress in human spermatozoa.
Dr. Singh's background has given her the critical vision and work ethic necessary to perform and succeed in her duties. She takes extreme pleasure in helping and understanding the individual needs of each patient. Ms. Carmichael is a certified Medical Assistant and has been involved in the administration of infertility programs for over 25 years. She is responsible for the day to day functioning of our practice and is cherished by patients and staff alike. Before joining F.I.R.S.T., Debbie was the administrator for the infertility program at the University of Miami. She is the consummate multi-tasker.
